NEPALGUNJ/PARASI, April 28: The effect of the indefinite banda imposed by Tharuhat activists has been very less in Banke and Nawalparasi districts.

Though vehicles bound for long destinations did not ply, more than 90 percent shops and educational institutions remained opened Tuesday in Nepalgunj. Motorbikes, rickshaws and carts plied.

In Nawalparasi as well, schools and businesses operated from early morning on Tuesday. Vehicles also plied on the roads.

According to the District Administration Office, Banke, the vehicles plying on long routes remained off the road fearing reprisal from Tharuhat cadres. "But the administration has been ensuring safe delivery of goods and passengers´ journey by clamping curfew."

Though the banda hit some neighboring places, Nepalgunj bazaar came to operation without any obstruction.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police in Nawalparasi Shayan Bahadur Khatri said large number of police personnel have been mobilized on the highway to ensure unhindered movement of vehicles.
