DANG, Dec 27: Different Hindu organizations have imposed a banda in the Mid-Western Development Region on Tuesday in a protest against cow slaughtering in Kailali district.
They imposed the strike demanding with the government to take an action on the culprits after conducting an investigation. The banda enforcers have claimed that 120 cows were recently slaughtered in the district.
The strike has disrupted normal life of people as vehicles have stayed off the road and all the educational institutions have been closed.
Meanwhile, police rounded up 19 demonstrators enforcing the strike.
Central member of National Democratic Youth Association Umakanta Bhandari said, “Police flexed muscles unnecessarily on demonstrators in a peaceful protest.”
According to him, six protesters were arrested during a rally in Ghorahi yesterday evening, while 13 others were arrested this morning.
