Balkot tense as hundreds protest outside PM Oli’s residence; at least two injured in police fire

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Hundreds of protesters gathered outside Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s residence in Balkot today, attempting to breach the security perimeter.

Police fired multiple gunshots to control the crowd. According to eyewitnesses, at least two protesters were injured, though the severity of their injuries is not yet confirmed.


Demonstrators have been burning tires and staging protests around Balkot Chowk in Bhaktapur since early morning, following Monday’s violence that left at least 19 youths dead.
