KATHMANDU, Aug. 11: Chairman of the CPN-Maoist, Mohan Baidya, has said the Constituent Assembly could be restored on condition.

At the concluding session of the national political interaction organized by his party at Sanepa on Saturday, Chairman Baidya said although his party was not for the restoration of the CA in present circumstances, it could be reinstated setting some conditions.

"Our party is for the reinstatement on a condition that new parties emerged out of the CA would have their future secured, party whip would not be binding and the consensus formed on contentious issues of the constitution writing would be respected," he said, reiterating that the CA, however, could not be reinstated out of the present status.

He is of the view that roundtable conference could form the national consensus government which would solve the contentious issues of the constitution writing.

Leader Baidya further said raising the demand of the parliamentary election without bringing constitution was not unacceptable to his party. The government must step down for the formation of the new government, he demanded.

The interaction was organized to find the point which could help forge consensus.

KATHMANDU:
A round table assembly initiated by newly formed CPN-Maoist is currently underway at Sanepa on Saturday.

Around 40 parties including the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN (UML), and civil society leaders are participating in the conference, in a bid to seek a solution to the present political and constitutional crisis.

The CPN-Maoist, which split from the UCPN(Maoist), has been batting for a roundtable conference of all political parties, civil society and the new forces as a means to end the political deadlock. The assembly has been called as per a decision taken by the party´s national gathering last month after concluding that only a roundtable, not CA revival or fresh CA elections, is the solution to the deadlock resulting from the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly without drafting a new constitution.
