Bagmati reports 38.92 percent budget expenditure

BAGMATI, May 9: The Bagmati Province government has reported 38.92 percent budget expenditures as of now in the current fiscal year 2080/81 BS (2023/24). 

The budget expenditure of the provincial government in the eleventh hour of the fiscal year has been recorded low. According to the Provincial Treasury Controller Office, Hetauda,  the provincial government's expenditure in the past 10 months of the current fiscal year is just Rs 24.407 billion.

In this period, Rs 11.415 billion has been spent under current expenditure and around Rs 12.992 billion under capital expenditure, according to treasury office chief Hari Prasad Upadhayay. 

The highest spending has been made for physical infrastructure development as it is calculated at Rs 8.698 billion followed by Rs 2.860 billion for drinking water, energy, and irrigation sectors while the spending of the Social Development Ministry is Rs 1.86 billion. 

The expenditures of the Forest and Environment Ministry is Rs 1.23 billion followed by Rs 810 million of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Rs 633 million of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Cooperatives, Rs 196 million of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, Rs 174 million of the Office of the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers and Rs 95 million of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Planning. 

Likewise, the Province Assembly Secretariat spent Rs 145 million in this period. 

The provincial government allocated Rs 26.421 billion for current expenditure, Rs 35.787 billion for capital expenditure, and Rs 500 million for financial management in the current fiscal year.
