CHITWAN, June 11: Nepali Congress Central Committee member Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that the existing problems should be resolved by forming a national consensus government. Speaking at a news conference organized by Chitwan chapter of Press Union here Saturday, leader Mahat said, "The incumbent government cannot resolve the problems of the people. So the national consensus government should be formed as soon as possible."

KATHMANDU, June 10: Nepal India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) have highlighted the need to implement the India-offered Leave Travel Concession (LTC) scheme to boost and promote bilateral tourism.  Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Thursday, NICCI officials said that though the Indian government has approved a proposal to allow more than two million government employees to travel to Nepal along with Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka on LTC, the scheme has not been executed properly by both the governments.

KATHMANDU, June 11: Salt Trading Corporation (STC) has got the go-ahead to import 30,000 tons of sugar. Officials of STC say sugar will start arriving into Nepal from mid-July. The government has set customs duty at 1 percent for import of 30,000 tons, down from the existing 15 percent.

KATHMANDU, June 10: Sanepa Club moved to the fourth positions in Group A beating Nawa Jyoti Yuva Pariwar 3-2 in the Martyr's Memorial C Division Football League at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato on Friday. Similarly, Khalibari Youth Club recorded its first victory in Group B. In Group A match, Nava Jyoti took early lead as Uttam Bahadur Mahato scored in 23rd minute and doubled the advantage in 29th minute.

KATHMANDU, June 10: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index climbed up 83.56 points this week to close at record high of 1,566.7 points on Thursday--the last trading day of the week.  While the stock market had taken a dip on the first trading day by nearly 35 points, the market rallied in the remaining trading days of the week.

WEEKLY MARKET COMMENTARY (June 5-10)  KATHMANDU, June 10: Nepali rupee gained 96 paisa against US dollar this week as the Indian currency, with which rupee is pegged, gained value against the greenback. Gold price, on the other hand, went up by Rs 515 per 10 grams over the week.  CURRENCY Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central regulatory bank, had opened currency trading on Sunday with value of dollar fixed at Rs 108.07.

KATHMANDU, June 10: Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai has said that the '4G' service would be soon brought into operation in the telecommunication sector. The communications minister said this today in a press meet organized at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his arrival home after participating in the '4G' conference of telecommunications service providing bodies of the Asia Pacific Region. Itahari, June 10: Prime Minister and Purbanchal University Chancellor, KP Sharma Oli, has asserted that the Gothgaun area – where the varsity's central office is located – will now be developed as a centre of Nepali education.  The PM made the comment during a felicitations programme held at Sundardulari Municipality Gothgaun Northern Central Office by the Purbanchal University on late Thursday evening.
