KATHMANDU, March 29: Trailer of comedy film ‘Kohalpur Express’ was launched amid a special program organized on the premises of Rising Mall, Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Traditionally, there is lower involvement of women in the film industry, especially in senior positions such as directors or producers. But some of the Nepali actresses have grown to become producers. Across the globe, many female actors have turned into prominent producer such as Sandra Bullock, Priyanka Chopra, Reese Witherspoon, Drew Barrymore, Anuska Sharma, and Elizabeth Banks. This is slowly coming into the Nepali film industry as well, and many female actors have grown to not just be limited to the screen.

Presence of any foreign element in air that is harmful or poisonous for health is taken as air pollution. Air pollution has become one of the major issues of Kathmandu Valley.

Everyone has a bucket list. But if you don’t have one, you might wonder why you would even need one. Rape is a heinous crime. Every year, hundreds of incidents of sexual violence like rape are recorded all over Nepal. According to the data of Nepal Police, five rape cases are filed everyday in average across the country. As many as 1,644 cases of rape were filed in last fiscal year. In the first month of this fiscal, alone, 193 rape cases were filed across the country. This proves that females of our society are highly unsafe.

The Earth is a common home for all living creatures, but some people do not think this way and abuse lesser beings. According to the data of Animal Nepal, there are around 22,000 stray dogs inside the Kathmandu Valley, but the question is, where do they come from? These animals came through different means. The ‘Male Nude’ art exhibition kicked off on the premises of MCube Gallery, Lalitpur on Friday. The exhibition features works of artists Kapil Mani Dixit and Roshan Miahra, and is curated by Manish Lal Shrestha. This six-day event is showcasing 17 different paintings by the two artists. Out of 17 paintings, six are made by Kapil Mani Dixit and remaining eleven are made by Roshan Mishra.

Whadda Fish Designs is an illustration-based company of two friends, Elsa Thapa and Kishor Maharjan. Elsa was interested in designs since her childhood, so she started her career in t-shirt designing since 2014. But it was only in February, 2016 that she created a Facebook account to post her designs as a personal project.

Notable writer Jhamak Ghimire, who was born with cerebral palsy, won the most prestigious prize of Nepali literature, Madan Puraskar, in 2010 for her autobiography ‘Jeevan Kanda Ki Phool’. The annual observance of International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3 in 1992. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of the society and development, and to increase awareness on the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life, according to the United Nations (UN).
