Unbridled drugs trafficking led to Kanchanpur incident: HM Thapa

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has attributed the Kanchanpur incident to free export and import of narcotic drugs and consumption of alcohol. Briefing the parliament about the Kanchanpur incident in New Baneshwar on Thursday, Minister Thapa said that status quoists who do not want peace, development and stability in the country are conspiring against the government by orchestrating such heinous crimes.

"A successful visit": Minister Gyawali

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Gyawali said that his visit to Portugal, Belgium and Luxembourg would help to strengthen bilateral and economic relations. Debriefing parliamentarians during today's meet, Gyawali said that his agendas with all the three countries primarily circled around promoting tourism, bilateral and economic relationships and safeguarding rights of Non-Nepali Residents.

US Congress passes a bill to slash Pakistan's defense aid to USD 150 million

The US Congress has passed a defense spending bill capping its security-related aid to Pakistan at USD 150 million, significantly below the historic level of more than USD one billion per year. The National Defense Authorisation Act-2019 (NDAA-19), however, removes certain conditions – like action against Haqqani Network or the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) -- as was the case in the past few years for disbursement of US aid to Pakistan.

Report: Record high sea levels in 2017
