KATHMANDU, March 20: Lawmakers, speaking in the special session of today's Parliament meeting, stressed the need of holding local level election in the stipulated time. 

Ramhari Khatiwada of the Nepali Congress, taking part in the discussions, said that the two kinds of extremist forces - one led by the CPN (UML) and the other by UDMF - had been affecting the atmosphere for forging consensus. 

He added that the UML was not accepting other's existence and UDMF was announcing to boycott the election. Khatiwada added that in one hand UDMF lawmakers are receiving allowances from the parliament and on the other hand they are reiterating that they were not accepting the constitution, these were contradictory. 

Similarly, main opposition UML leader Bhim Rawal said that Mechi-Mahakali campaign led by his party was to create conducive environment for election. He said that it was nationalistic campaign to maintain harmony among the people. 

He warned of not postponing the local poll at any cost. He urged all to be ready for election as it was essential for the democratic process. 

Ruling CPN (Maoist Centre)'s Aman Lal Modi said that the constitution implementation process was in shadow as the political parties were divided in different poles. He added that two kinds of nationalistic thoughts (one negating the hills and the other negating the Tarai) were prevailing in the country but both are wrong. 

CPN (UML)'s Kamala Bishwakarma urged all political parties to focus on the creation of atmosphere conducive to hold the local election within the scheduled date. 
Anuradha Thapa Magar of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party expressed her concern over the induction cook stoves provided by China as assistance to Nepal going unused. 
"Those lawmakers and leaders advocating for capital gains tax exemption for Ncell, a private telecom company, are not nationalists," she said. 

Meena Pun said she wanted to be clear about the rumour that the local poll would be postponed. The election should not be put off under any circumstances. 

Laxman Rajbanshi of Nepa Rastriya Party expressed his concern over the recommendation of the individual pronounced guilty by the Mallik Commission as ambassador and said it was enough to question over the efficiency of our foreign policy. 

CPN (UML)'s Rabindra Adhikari demanded transfer of budget, he said, taking place in the name of new projects under pressure of the finance minister in the context of election code of conduct already coming into force on the backdrop of the announcement of date for local poll, be stopped instantly . 

Suryabala Rai said time has come for political parties to contribute to the creation of employment opportunities at home to involve energetic youths in the building of nation.
