KATHMANDU, Sept 11: Renowned artist Suleman Shankar, also known as Iku, has been arrested from Hattigauda in Kathmandu on charges of defrauding multiple individuals.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Hobindra Bogati stated that the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested him for allegedly scamming people by promising to send them to various western countries including Europe, US, Australia and Canada on artist visas.

The CIB claimed that Suleman Shankar had been charging money by promising to take individuals to Canada, Australia, and European countries on artist visas for participation in Nepali cultural programs. He assured them of good jobs and income in those western countries.
Shankar allegedly asked people to deposit amounts ranging from Rs 1.5 million to Rs 2 million per person into the account of his company, SMS Films Pvt Ltd. When the individuals who paid for the artist visas were unable to travel, they contacted the police, according to the CIB.
