KATHMANDU, June 11: The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office of Nepal Police has arrested a group of three individuals for allegedly defrauding over 300 people with false promises of foreign employment in Cambodia, New Zealand, France and other countries.
The arrested have been identified as Rajkumar Bhatta, 28, of Chitwan, Nabin BK of Kaski and Pawan Panta.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, this group advertised employment opportunities in countries like Cambodia, New Zealand and France for employment with the lure of getting attractive salaries by creating fake accounts on social media platforms such as facebook, messenger and whatsapp.

Based on this, those who made contact with the group were instructed to deposit money in a bank account. Police investigation has revealed that those arrested absconded after collecting amounts ranging from Rs 500,000 to Rs 1 million by preparing counterfeit documents such as visa, work permit, hotel booking, police report.
The victims lodged complaints against the individuals, who received their deposits. However, it has been revealed that this group instructed them to deposit money into other individuals' bank accounts and then withdraw the funds using checks.
According to police, a foreign employment fraud case has been lodged against Basnet, whose account was used to deposit the money and he is currently in Dillibazar Jail as he could not afford the bail.
Police suspect that this group has swindled over Rs 150 million from more than 300 individuals.
