KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has warned that the government could pay a heavy price if it continues arresting prominent figures without sufficient reason.
Speaking to journalists at Singha Durbar on Monday, Dahal warned the government against repeating such incidents.

Accusing the government of arresting former Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana under the pretext of a security threat, Dahal said the government would face serious consequences if it was trying to intimidate others by targeting prominent figures.
“The facts will gradually come out. If the government is trying to scare the daughter-in-law by beating the daughter, that would also be dangerous,” he said. “The security threat is merely an excuse. Even a simple person can understand that it is an excuse. If there is a security threat, security personnel should be increased.”
Meanwhile, Dahal said Prime Minister Balendra Shah had said what he needed to say at the United Nations General Assembly. He said any other prime minister in Shah’s position would have said the same things and that there was no need to exaggerate the matter.
