Army starts with win in Manmohan Basketball

KATHMANDU, April 16: The departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club ‘A’ has started the first Manmohan Memorial Open Basketball Tournament with a victory in men’s category on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, April 16: The departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club ‘A’ has started the first Manmohan Memorial Open Basketball Tournament with a victory in men’s category on Sunday.  At the home court of Bishal Milan Kendra, Army defeated Universal 82-33 in which Rabin Khatri scored the highest 33.  Army took the lead in the first quarter 18-12, while it won the second 15-2. Army continued its superb performance and won the third quarter 33-9, while it won the last 16-10 to ensure its first win of the tournament. In the other matches on the same day, Xavier International College and SDC Hounds also registered victories.  Xavier beat the host Nepal Sports Federation 50-41 with the 16-score of Anish Magar, while Hounds saw off South Siders 57-52 in which Saroj Shrestha scored the highest 25.  Similarly, in women’s category, Saipal Academy beat the federation 62-16.  The tournament, being played in league-cum-knockout format and slated to conclude on April 26, features nine men and six women teams.
