KATHMANDU, Oct 22: Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel has said that the army is preparing necessary plans for the emergency rescue of Nepali peacekeepers in Syria and Lebanon.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Sunday, Commander-in-chief Sigdel said that the war is raging in Syria and Lebanon and Nepali peacekeeping forces are present, and if they need emergency rescue, the Nepalese Army is making an emergency plan for their rescue in coordination with the the MoD.

The war between Israel and the extremist group Hezbollah in Lebanon is ongoing. Sigdel said that the Nepalese peacekeepers deployed in Lebanon under the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission (UNIFIL) are in uncomfortable conditions but are currently safe.
He claimed that there is little chance that the Nepali soldiers in the peacekeeping forces will face problems.
