Nepal condemns Israeli attacks on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon

KATHMANDU, Oct 15: The Government of Nepal has issued a strong condemnation in response to Israel’s recent attack on United Nations peacekeepers stationed in Lebanon.


According to reports from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Israeli forces breached the main entrance of the peacekeepers' base on Sunday and opened fire. This incident caused health complications for 15 peacekeepers, who suffered from skin irritation and stomach issues due to exposure to smoke.

In an official statement, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the attack, stating, "Nepal strongly condemns the recent assault on UNIFIL peacekeepers." The ministry called for the immediate cessation of such actions and urged both sides to prioritize the safety of peacekeepers while conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.


The attack occurred amidst escalating tensions between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
