According to Brigadier General Jagdish Chandra Pokhrel, spokesperson of Nepal Army, Katwal committed suicide shooting himself with an INSAS Rifle during his duty hours at 1:30 pm. The division headquarter said that he shot himself on head and arms. [break]
He added that Katwal´s body has been handed to his family and autopsy will be performed later. The 22-year-old army man’s reason of committing suicide is still a mystery. Police is investigating the incident.
An official at the division headquarter claimed that there were no possibilities of shooting himself with a 3.9 ft-long-rifle.
The division headquarter has also announced further investigation following the case. Katwal failed to become second-lieutenant even after trying twice.
