Army integration to complete in 4 months: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU, March 23: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said on Monday that the army integration process will complete in four months well before the current mandate of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) that expires in July.[break]



According to the PM´s foreign affairs advisor Hira Bahadur Thapa, PM Dahal told US Ambassador Nancy J Powell, during a meeting, that there will be no delay in steering the peace process to a logical conclusion. Ambassador Powell had enquired with the PM about the army integration and peace process.



He also told the US envoy that the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) has already given instructions to the Maoist´s People´s Liberation Army to stop recruitment, the recruitment in the Nepal Army (NA) and controversy over non-extension of terms of eight NA Generals have already been settled.



Earlier on Monday, envoys of Australia and Israel had also called on the PM separately. The Australian envoy told the PM that Australia was going to double its grant assistance to Nepal.
