Army Club introduces fencing

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), the sports club of Nepal Army, formally introduced fencing as a new sports discipline. TAC on Friday organized a demonstration game and selected players at the Army Club in Lagankhel, Lalitpur.

Nepal Fencing Association (NFA) handed over sporting kits to the club at the same function. Handing over the kits to Lieutenant Colonel Ram Kaji Rana Magar, NFA President Sunil Shrestha said that departmental teams were the backbone of Nepali sports and hoped to produce best players.Fencing Coach Abishek Karki and Sanjeev Lama will train the fencing team of Army. Altogether 25 male players took part in the demonstration. Army Club has also decided to provide the training to 15 women players.

Another departmental APF Sports Club has already included fencing in its training. NFA General Secretary Sujan Lal Shrestha informed that the trainings of the game are also being conducted in Pokhara, Dhapasi and Shivapuri School.
