KATHMANDU, March 25: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Rajendra Chhetri is leaving for a week-long official visit to China on Sunday on the invitation of his counterpart Chief of General Staff General Fang Fenghui.
CoAS Chhetri, who had traveled to India about two months ago, will be accompanied by seven other army staff and his spouse.
Indian Army invites former chiefs of Nepal Army to New Delhi
According Nepalese Army's Directorate of Public Relations (DPR), General Chhetri will be leaving for China via Air China flight to Chengdu and then will be flown to Beijing, where he will meet his counterpart and other high-level officials.
The national army said General Chhetri's visit to China would be helpful in strengthening the bilateral relations of the military forces of the two countries.
The NA said that it has no plans to seek any military assistance during the visit. CoAS Chhetri, who is scheduled to visit China on the same day of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's return to Nepal, will fly back on Saturday. CoAS had visited India just before PM Oli's visit to the southern neighbor in February.
