KATHMANDU, April 10: Bal Krishna Chaudhary of Armed Police Force (APF) clinched the gold in men’s triple jump Friday on the day five of the ongoing Fifth National Games.[break]
Chaudhary made a 13.28 meters jump to secure the first place while Dhruba Narayan Urau of Nepal Police came second with 13.71 meters jump and Yam Sajan Sunwar of Mid Western Region finished for bronze.
APF clinched the gold in 4X100 meters relay sprint by finishing the race in 44.38 seconds while Nepal Police bagged the silver medal. Mid Western Region finished third to bag the bronze medal by finishing the sprint in 44.91 seconds.
In women’s 4X100 meters relay sprint, Nepal Police won the gold by finishing the dash in 51.78 seconds while APF stood second by completing the race in 53.17 seconds. Mid Western Region bagged the bronze.
In men’s 400 meters hurdle, Santosh Kumar Shrestha of APF bagged the gold. He finished the spring in 57.35 seconds. Ramprit Chaudhary of Nepal Police stood second with 58.77 seconds timing. Nabin Gurung of Western Region was satisfied with the bronze medal.

In women’s 10,000 meter, Bishworupa Budha of Mid Western Region finished the race in 41.12.38 minutes to win the gold while Haridevi Rajlawat of Central Region bagged the silver with 41.21.54 minutes timing and Sakuntala Budhatoki of Mid Western region came third.

In women’s discus throw, Amrita Chaudhary earned gold for Central Region with 24018 meters throw while Hiran Chaudhary of Eastern Region bagged the silver and Ganga Gurung came in third.
In men’s discus throw, Bishnu Shrestha of Western Region hurled 30.32 meters to clinch the gold while Narendra Jung Shah and Ujir Bista of Nepal Police came in second and third place respectively.
APF man clinches 5,000m
In men’s 5000m, Gagan Singh Budhayar of APF claimed the gold with 15.22.43 min timing while Narendra Bhatta of Nepal Police with 15.26.66 min timing bagged the silver and Durga Budha of Mid Western region won the Bronze.

In women’s 100 meters hurdles, departmental teams dominated the show. Arati Pathak of APF came first with 18.52 min timing while her colleague Sunita Tame claimed the silver finishing in 18.85 min and Binu Budhamagar of Nepal Police came third.
Shambhu wins weightlifting gold
In men’s 85 kg category of weightlifting, Nepal Army earned both gold and silver. Shambhu Sunwar lifted 230 kg in total for gold lifting 103 in snatch and 127 in clean and jerk while his team mate Dinesh Shrestha came second lifting 215 kg in total. Likewise, Bachhu Lal Chaudhary of Eastern finished third.
Meanwhile, Yadav Gautam, a weight lifter from the Western region, had his daughter make amends for his loss. Gautam’s daughter Bibika bagged silver medal in the 75 kg category. Gautam had competed in the 85 kg category on Friday.
In 93 kg, Runtu Lal Yadav of Eastern Region clinched the gold lifting of 239 kg in total. He lifted 100 kg in snatch and 139 in clean and jerk. Ajay Shahi and Ram Dayal Mandal of Central region won the silver and bronze respectively.
Khadgi enters snooker final
Shyam Khadgi advanced into the final of snooker defeating Rajan Lama at the Fifth National Games on Friday.
Shyam defeated Rajan 5-4 in the competitive match held at Billiard Training Center, Tripureshwar. Rajan won the first two sets 88-33 and 109-10 but lost the next four sets 16-79, 60-71, 29-73 and 49-64 respectively. Rajan then won the seventh and eighth sets to take the match to a 4-4 draw.
In the decisive last set, Shyam beat Rajan 68-18 to book his berth in the final.
