Both injured are being treated at a nursing home at Attariya in Kailali district where they were rushed overnight after treatment at Mahakali Zone Hospital seemed impossible.

Bhandari works as a driver at District Police Office (DPO) Kanchanpur while Bohara is posted at Achham and is on home leave. They claimed that the APF personnel attacked them for no apparent reason while they were heading toward the DPO. DPO chief and Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Kharel, however, said that involvement of the APF personnel in the incident had not yet been confirmed."

Meanwhile, SP Man Bahadur Magar, chief of the BSO Kanchanpur, said he was investigating whether or not his men were involved in the incident.
