As part of their protest, they have been displaying a message ´Why is the burden of ATF price hike only on air travelers´? They have also included the message in their boarding passes.
Officials of AOAN, however, said they won´t disrupt flights till the end of the festive season. “We had requested the government to withdraw the recent hike in ATF price and accept the bank guarantee instead of cash deposit for ATF. But the government has turned deaf ear to our demand," Rameswor Thapa, president of AOAN, said, adding that they will intensify protest programs after Tihar.
Nepal Oil corporation (NOC) has increased the price of ATF twice over the past month. ATF is currently available at Rs 137 per liter.
