Highlighting the pertinent issues related to the conference, he called for a strong support and active participation from the World Bank in the conference, stated a press release issued today by the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations in New York.
Drawing the attention to the special difficulties faced by the LDCs due to their structural vulnerabilities and other such constraints, Ambassador Acharya said LDCs should be recognized as the special category by the BWIs as in the United Nations and they should be given special priority in all policies and programs of the World Bank.
In this context, he emphasized the need for the establishment of a special division for the LDCs in the World Bank, reads the press release.
He also called for the voice and representation of the LDCs in all economic and financial governance forums that consider global economic issues as well as development issues.
During the meetings with the representatives of the World Bank, matters related to trade integration, investment, infrastructures and productive capacity building in the LDCs were also discussed besides human development and social sectors, stated the release.
Acharya also underscored the strong need to have a dedicated and scaled-up partnership across the board in all areas of importance to the LDCs. RSS
