Overnight leader Prajapati has a total score of two-over 136 and has three-stroke lead over pros Ram Thapa, Jay Ram Shrestha and Deepak Thapa Magar after the completion of the second round on Wednesday.[break]
Ram Thapa, who shot five-over 72 on Tuesday, played a round of even-par on Wednesday to share second position with his elder brother Deepak and Shrestha with a total of five-over 139. Deepak Thapa Magar, who scored four-over 71 on Tuesday, carded one-over 68 on Wednesday.
Jaya Ram Shrestha, elder brother of Nepal No 1 pro Shiva Ram Shrestha, produced the best card of the tournament so far on Wednesday. Jay Ram, who shot six-over 73 on Tuesday, submitted a card of one-under 66 on Wednesday. Nepal No 1 Shrestha is away in India for PGTI Tournaments and he missed the tournament.
Leader Prajapati, an emerging golfer under the Surya Nepal NGA Youth Development Program, took a turn with three-over 36 and completed the back nine with two-under 32. Prajapati suffered bogeys on the first, second, third, ninth and 18th holes while he carded birdies on the sixth, 12th, 13th and 14th holes.
Top 20 professionals and the ties as well as top nine amateurs qualified for the final 36 holes as the cut applied after the second round.
The professional winner of the tournament will get a check of Rs 60,000 while runner up will take home Rs 40,000. Others professionals in the top 20 will also receive their share of cash prizes.
Umesh Nagarkoti and CB Bhandari shared the fourth position among the professionals with a total scores of six-over 140. Rabi Khadka (seven-over 141) is sixth among the pro golfers after the second round while Surya Prasad Sharma and Mani Rai (eight-over 142) shared seventh position. Defending champion Dhana Thapa, Ramesh Adhikari and Sanjay Lama (nine-over 143) shared ninth position among the pro golfers. Bikash Bogati remained at the second position among the amateurs with the total score of 10-over 144 after the second round.
Nepal No 1 Shrestha in PGTI
Nepal No 1 pro golfer Shiva Ram Shrestha carded one-over 72 on Wednesday at the Poona Club Golf Course, India and remained on the 37th position of the PGTI Players Championship that teed off on Wednesday.
Indians Rajiv Niranjan Datar, Shankar Das and Sri Lankan Mithun Perera shared the top position of the championship after playing five-under 66 on the first day.
