KATHMANDU, March 20: The biggest amateur golf tournament of the country, The Nepal Amateur, will tee off on Tuesday at Gokarna Forest Golf Resort in Kathmandu.
The three-day event being organized by Nepal Golf Association will be played over 54 holes.
Altogether 48 golfers from three countries including Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan will compete in the tournament. Only top 30 players will make the cut which will be applied after 36 holes of play.
There will also be a team event and each country has nominated two players for a team.
Nepal and Bhutan have two teams each while Bangladesh has one team.
The total score at the end of 36 holes will determine the winning team.
Tenzing Tshiring and Tanka Karki, the local favorites, will represent Nepal A while Sukra Bahadur Rai and Shiva Raj Majhi will play for Nepal B.
Bhutan A is represented by Dechen Wangdi and Tshering Tenzin, and Bhutan B consists of Dechen Lendup and Rinzin Dorji.
Similarly, Md Shah Alam and Md Shorat Sikdar are the Bangladeshi players.
