According to Janak Bista, the spokesperson for the cantonment, altogether 3,936 combatants verified by the UN Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) in the third division will receive their allowances for three months. [break]
Chief of Cantonment Management Office Sharad Chandra Sharma said they plan to complete the allowance distribution to all combatants by April 26.
Each combatant will receive Rs 15,000 as allowances for three months and an additional amount covering other expenses.
The distribution of allowance began from Maoist Fourth Division Cantonment in Nawalparasi on Friday. The distribution process that started in presence of Minister for Peace and Reconstruction continued on Saturday.
According to Cantonment Management Committee, the government plans to start distributing allowances in the Second Division Cantonment in Sindhuli from April 18 and in the Dahaban Cantonment in Rolpa from April 20.
Likewise, allowance distribution in the Seventh Division Cantonment in Kailali, the Sixth Division Cantonment in Surkhet and in the First Division Cantonment in Chulachuli, Illam will begin respectively from April 28, May 2, and May 3.
