KATHMANDU, June 28: Government's official spokesperson and also the Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Gokul Baskota said that an alternate domestic airport will be constructed at a location close to the valley.
At a regular press conference held on Thursday, the minister claimed that the government will construct an airport close to the valley taking into account the current air traffic at TIA, Kathmandu.
Over the past few years, feasibility studies of constructing a domestic airport at Kavre have been conducted. However, the studies so far have concluded that constructing an airport at Kavre isn’t feasible. "I am not aware of the technical reports so far. Despite this, I can assure that the airport shall definitely be constructed," asserted Minister Baskota.
"We are not wary of the technical aspects of the project. Only going through the technical reports won't be enough. Required efforts should also be made. We have a dream, and we will definitely fulfill it," Baskota said.
