KATHMANDU, Jan 17: A team of experts from France has arrived in Nepal to study the ATR plane crash of Yeti Airlines that took place in Pokhara on January 15.
Suresh Adhikari, secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, said that a nine-member expert team from the company that manufactures the ATR aircraft has arrived in Nepal. "A nine-member expert team from ATR company has reached Pokhara today," he said, "All stakeholders within the country and abroad have shown keen interest after the plane crash.”
Three killed in separate road accidents in Jhapa
The government has formed a five-member investigation committee under the coordination of former secretary Nagendra Ghimire. Retired pilots Deepak Prasad Bastola and Sunil Thapa of the Nepalese Army are among the committee members. Besides, air maintenance expert Ekraj Jung Thapa and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane are the members of the committee. The committee has already started its investigation.
The bodies of 71 people killed in the plane crash have been recovered and the search for the remaining one person is still ongoing.
