KATHMANDU, Aug 4: Shiksha Nepal’s campaign to provide a book to every child in rural areas has gained a new momentum. It was announced, during a press conference on Sunday at Bluebird Mall in Tripureshwar, that 120 volunteers are planning to collect 100,000 story books within 10 days.

Starting from today, the volunteers will visit schools and colleges to ask for children’s story books from the students, stated Prem Bahadur Bohara, founder and CEO of Shiksha Nepal. [break]

Bohara also said, “Our volunteers will ask the students to gift a story books for their friends in rural areas. We want it to be a gift instead of a donation so that the story books are in good condition and are given with a feeling of goodwill that a gift generally inspires. We believe it will be more effective than going door to door to collect books.”

Initially, the campaign started in February this year hoped to collect and deliver one lakh story books to the children by December 2014. A total of 13,000 books have already been collected till date and with the new campaign, a lakh is the new target. Bohara said, “If we manage to collect 100,000 books, then we’ll have 13,000 extra books for the children.”
