AIG Joshi retires, clearing path for Pokharel's brief two-day tenure

KATHMANDU, July 3: Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Umesh Raj Joshi has retired.


Joshi retired at midnight on Tuesday, marking the end of his tenure as mandated by the Police Regulations 2014.

A formal farewell ceremony was held by Acting Inspector General of Police Tek Prasad Rai to honor Joshi's service.


Joshi's career in the police force began on March 19, 1995, when he was appointed as a Police Inspector.


DIG Poshraj Pokharel has been recommended for promotion to AIG following Joshi's retirement.


With Joshi stepping down, Pokharel is set to be promoted to AIG. However, Pokharel will also reach retirement age on July 5, giving him only two days in the AIG role.
