AIG Bharat Bohara retires from Nepal Police

Due to the age limit, he retired before completing his 30 years of service, and he couldn't work for even two weeks as an AIG. He had only received the insignia of his rank a week ago.

KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Additional Inspector General (AIG) Bharat Bahadur Bohara has retired from Nepal Police. Bohara, who was also the head of the Provincial Coordination Committee (PCC), has been on compulsory leave since Sunday.


Bohara has been retired due to the 56-year age limit for the current AIGs in the Nepal Police. He had joined the police service as an Inspector on March 19, 1995.

Due to the age limit, he retired before completing his 30 years of service, and he couldn't work for even two weeks as an AIG. He had only received the insignia of his rank a week ago.


The government had promoted him to AIG for a short period due to his upcoming retirement. Bohara is from the same batch as IGP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar.


On Tuesday, Additional Inspector General Kiran Bajracharya will also retire. She is the head of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office.
