JHAPA, Nov 4: Agricultural produce worth Rs 3.367 billion was exported in the first quarter of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26 through the Plant Quarantine and Pesticide Management Centre Quarantine Office, Kakarbhitta.
According to the Office’s information officer, Chandreshwar Thakur, the major export items include cardamom, tea, plywood and veneer, ginger, broom grass, and others.
During this period, the highest exports were cardamom worth Rs 1.51 billion, tea worth Rs 756.6 million, plywood worth Rs 277.4 million, veneer worth Rs 272.8 million, and Amliso (broom grass) worth Rs 195.9 million.

Similarly, ginger worth Rs 119 million, fresh vegetables worth Rs 94.7 million, herbs worth Rs 12.4 million, and lentils worth Rs 74.1 million were exported, according to the official statistics.
Information officer Thakur said that agricultural produce worth Rs 1.451 billion and 365 thousand was imported from the eastern border checkpoint during the same period.
The main agricultural products imported include potatoes, millet, pulses, rice, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, garlic, maize, and livestock fodder.
The Office stated that millet worth Rs 6.2 million, rice worth Rs 4.96 million, and vegetables worth Rs 3.06 million were imported during the three months.
Similarly, the quarantine office reported that fresh fruits worth Rs 236.7 million, garlic worth Rs 179.9 million, and potatoes worth Rs 307.7 million were imported through the customs point.
