In his address to an interaction programme on "The reason for the 30-party alliance agitation", he said it was their compulsion and was the need of the hour, too. Accusing the top leadership of Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) of possessing narrow mindset, he said their unwillingness to accept past agreements was the major hindrance to the way for a consensus on the disputed issues of the constitution.
The party has realised that they (ruling parties) need a big pressure to enforce agreements, he added. The UCPN (M) Chair stressed that 12-point agreement, Interim Constitution, Comprehensive Peace Accord and agreements reached with Madhesi and ethnic nationalities were the guidelines for drafting the new constitution.
The majority-based process introduced by the ruling parties in writing of the new constitution would push the country towards conflict, he added. The main opposition leader said the Prime Minister always talked about consensus, but never gave clues for so.
Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal (Democratic) Vice Chair Jitendra Dev said their agitation was intended to ensure the promulgation of the constitution through the CA. One hour was enough to sort out the contentious issues if political parties were honest to agreements. RSS
