KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Charge d’ Affaires at the Indian Embassy in Nepal Ajaya Kumar called on the speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Sapkota at the latter's office today afternoon.

While congratulating Sapkota, the acting ambassador of India to Nepal extended best wishes for his successful tenure. On the occasion, Kumar also gifted some books on Nepal-India relations. The post of Indian Ambassador to Nepal has been lying vacant after ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri returned home after completing his tenure last month.

Earlier on Monday, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi called on Sapkota on his election to the post of speaker of the lower house.

Speaker Sapkota has been receiving congratulatory messages from his foreign counterparts after he assumed office on Monday.
