Accounts officer nabbed with bribe money

LAHAN, July 12: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested Padam Binod Pokharel, the accounts officer at the Road Division Office, Lahan, along with Rs 100,000 that he took in bribes.

A team from the CIAA’s Bardibas office raided the Road Division Office Lahan on Tuesday evening and caught Pokharel red-handed while accepting the bribe, said CIAA Assistant Spokesman Devi Prasad Thapaliya.

It has been found that Pokharel asked for the bribe for the purpose of payment of the final bill related to the road construction project. The CIAA has launched further investigation into the matter.
