Nepal Police with the cooperation of Bihar police rescued Moni Mishra from Manwapur village in Sitapur district of Bihar, India. Moni´s grandfather Rohit Kumar Mishra owns a printing press in Dhangadhi.[break]
Moni was abducted by Firoj Khan, an Indian citizen, with the help of Riyaj Ulhasan. While Firoj had been working at Mishra´s press for seven years, Riyaj had joined the press only six months ago.
"Firoj had not received his due salary for over six months," Rijyaj, now in police custody, said. "He was furious at our master. He always used to say it would cost the master dearly. He might have abducted Mona to force him pay his salary."
Police got a clue about Mona´s abduction after they arrested Riyaj. Mona´s parents had handed Riyaj over to the police following his suspicious behavior. "We saw Riyaj chatting with three unknown Indians," Mona´s grandfather Rohit said. "Later, he started acting suspiciously."
After police nabbed him, Riyaj disclosed Firoj´s involvement in the abduction. Police said Riyaj´s elder brother Jamir Ulhasan and sister-in-law Hina Khan were also involved in the kidnapping.
Police have already arrested Firoj, Jamir and Hina from Bihar. Police said Riyaj himself whisked Mona away from her house. However, Riyaj has denied this accusation. Riyaj said someone else, not he, took Mona to Firoj.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Yogeshwor Rom Khami said Bihar police cooperated with them to trace the house where Mona was held hostage. "It is a rare case of mutual cooperation between Nepal and Bihar police," he said.
