KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The Nepali film Aankha–Crawling Crows won an award at the 11th Seoul International Webfest 2025 in South Korea.
Upon receiving the news, the film’s team expressed gratitude to all the actors and technical crew for making the achievement possible.
Earlier in July, Aankha, directed by Zaun Yonzan, was recognized in two major categories at the 29th edition of the International Police Arts Award Film Festival in Italy, winning Best Drama and Best Actress.

Actress Smita Lamichhane received the Best Actress award for her performance, which was also widely praised during the film’s release in Nepal last September.
Despite critical acclaim, a natural disaster disrupted the film’s run in Nepal, hurting its box office and prompting its withdrawal, the team said.
The cast includes Vijay Baral, Smita Lamichhane, Nisha Adhikari, Buddhi Tamang, R.K. Mehta, and Pashupati Rai, among others.
Critics have lauded the film for its strong performances and Yonzan’s artistic portrayal of social realism, human psychology, and emotional depth.
“This award is not just for our team, but for every creator working in the Nepali film industry,” said director Yonzan, “It is a matter of pride that Nepali stories, performances, and creativity are being recognized on an international stage.”
The film has also won three awards at home during the Nepal International Film Festival—for Best Feature Film, Best Screenwriter, and Best Actor.
Additionally, it earned accolades at India’s Nawada International Film Festival, securing the Best Film and Best Male Director awards.
