BARDIYA, March 13:  One person died in an accident on the East West Highway in Bardiya district in a hit-and-run case last night.

Keshav Dhital of Kohalpur Municipality-1, Banke, who was riding a motorcycle was hit by a tipper on Sunday night.The incident site is near Kedareshwar Dham in Bansagadhi Municipality-5 of Bardiya.

Dhital died this morning while undergoing treatment at the KohalpurTeaching Hospital.  

The tipper hit the motorcycle with registration number Bhe 6 Pa 9015, which was traveling from east to west along the highway. The motorcycle driver, Dhital, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, died later in the hospital. 

According to the police, Dhital suffered a head injury. After the incident, the tipper driver fled with the vehicle. The police launched a manhunt to find the absconding vehicle and the driver. 

The police found the tipper involved in the accident at 11 am today and arrested the driver. SP Sudhir Raj Shahi said that the tipper registered in Lumbini Province (number 9786) was taken under control along with the driver, Prem Tharu, 41, of Banke. Police said further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
