Dear Politics,
Remember the last time we had a meaningful conversation? I don’t. It’s been a long time since you listened to me. I have always been at the listening end and you at the speaking end. Now it’s high time that you listen and I speak.

You have been the talk of the town ever since I remember. There were always so many things written in the newspaper about you. I remember when our country was declared as a federal, democratic republic. I did not understand a word then. Then, we were taught about democracy and I still remember the first definition, “Democracy is the system of government of the people, by the people and for the people.” I remember it quite vividly but maybe you have forgotten. You have been so out of touch recently, that I almost forgot that we were meant to be together for our betterment. What is the use of having you when you cannot solve our problems during adversities? As they say “Adversity builds character but it also reveals character”, so it is up to you, how you build yourself. 

Let’s not be very bitter. I am actually thankful for many things. Thanks to your nature, I did not have to study all those points in the politics portion of social studies because the mega answer to most of the questions was ‘political instability’.

Never have I been as clear about any topic as I have been about ‘political instability’. Thanks to the unrest caused by you, I got so many holidays at school as a result of those protests and riots. Thanks to you always making headlines, I became familiar with so many political terms. Thanks to you, I have learnt to have an opinion. Yes, I am thankful to you.

But seeing your condition at the moment, I have something I want to share with you. First of all, I share with you a quote that never gets old. ‘All animals are born equal but some animals are more equal than others.’ 

This is a famous quote from a book whose story exactly depicts your present condition. Are some of us more equal merely due to your preferences? I don’t think following that is a good idea. You should also start recognizing us as humans rather than numbers. Let us not forget that we need you and you need us.

I know you are habituated to always being in the spotlight but when the country is in a much bigger problem, you should focus on that problem rather than on yourself. Lastly, I feel like your huge house has a very small base and hence it is so unstable. Maybe increasing the area of your base could help. Do you know what makes the base? The simple answer is trust. As your childhood friend, I just wish you to succeed and for that I feel like the first thing you should work on is stability. Stability because the more stable you become, the stronger you get. And maybe after getting stronger, finally all our issues can be addressed. One last thing, please keep listening to us because we are as interconnected as plants and animals.
