Born in December 1973 in a remote and rural village of Gorkha of Nepal, Pariyar was destined to live out her life in abject poverty and amidst caste-based discriminations. Her fight against herself and the constant struggle to reach the school can make a different story. But today, more than 13,000 poor, marginalized and remote village children are getting education and hundreds of others are waiting to get education through her initiatives. [break]
Being one of the noted activists and social workers in a so-called low-caste or untouchables in the society, among the 12 prominent personalities dedicated to the society from across the globe, she is now chosen as a protagonist for a documentary film that is to be produced by a US-based organization.
“I’m really happy and proud to be featured in my own village by a team of three that came all the way from the US,” she said. “My villagers, seniors, family members and friends talked, praised my work in front of the camera and this is what inspires me to go ahead,” she added. “The obstacles of gender, caste discrimination and poverty in Nepal as well as the achievements of my life will be included in the documentary,” she informed.
Recently, Pariyar was conferred with the honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) from Pine Manor College, MA, USA, from where she had earned her Bachelor’s of Arts on Social & Political Systems. Her dream to get
