KATHMANDU, July 28: Kathmandu Valley has reported 53 new cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
During a regular virtual media briefing of the ministry, spokesperson Dr Jageshwar Gautam said that 48 cases were diagnosed in Kathmandu district alone. Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts reported four and one case, respectively, in the past 24 hours.
With a large number of people entering the Valley and officials collecting swab samples at the major entry points, Kathmandu has witnessed a sharp increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19 in recent days.
