KATHMANDU, March 23: As many as 97 people were diagnosed with COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) confirmed that 76 people in Kathmandu, 16 in Lalitpur and five in Bhaktapur districts tested positive for the virus which was first detected in the country in January last year.
Through the 4,032 RT-PCR tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 188 positive cases were detected across the country taking the country’s caseload to 276,244.
The country has so far witnessed a total of 3,019 fatalities caused by the COVID-19 infection. No death was reported on Tuesday.
With the southern neighbor India witnessing a sudden rise in the number of COVID-19 infections, Nepal also reported a peak in new infections.
