Village goes dark after power canal collapse

JUMLA, April 17: As many as 583 households have gone dark after the collapse of electric canal based in Kudari VDC4-5 of the Bherikhola Micro-Hydropower Project.

With the collapse of canal on Thursday the power supply has been disrupted at Sanpulli, Rawatwada, Jogiwada, Daniwada and Kudari Bazaar of wards 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 of Kudari VDC.

There is no situation right now to immediately carry out necessary maintenance works as the flood has covered around 37-metre of the canal part, said Chairperson of Electricity Users Committee Deep Bahadur Shahi.
The length of the damaged part of canal is 19 metres, said technical expert Jeet Bahadur Singh. The locals have called for support from the concerned stakeholders to resolve the problem when their lone efforts are not likely for the same.
The hydropower project has the capacity of generating 19-KW electricity. RSS
