DANG, June 16: A couple has tied their marital knot at a quarantine facility here in the district. A young man from Ghorahi-18, Dang with the surname of Oli and a young lady from Tulsipur-5, Dang with the surname of Chaudhary established a conjugal relationship at the Ghorahi-18-based quarantine facility.
The couple had arrived here from the Indian city of New Delhi some days ago. They fell for each other while they were in India and they got married after getting family consent, according to Ward Chairman Bharat Aryal who was the one to perform the rituals during their marriage.
“When their families told us that the marriage is not possible in Ashar [mid-June/mid-July], they tied their knots on Sunday, the last day of Nepali month of Jestha.” Family members were also present during the ceremony which was held late night at around 11 pm.
“Their families wanted to perform the wedding rituals at a temple but it was not possible during this lockdown period, so we advised them to get married with banyan and fig trees as witnesses as per our Hindu tradition,” said Aryal. He had also recited mantras during the ceremony.
The couple also returned home on the same day after testing negative for COVID-19 via the PCR method.
