KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Chairman of Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Upendra Yadav said that the amendment proposals registered by the government at the Parliament Secretariat are unacceptable for the agitating parties.

He said that the amendment bill was not acceptable for them as the government did not reach at any agreement with the agitating parties before forwarding it to the Secretariat.Speaking at a press conference in the capital on Thursday, he said that the government and major political parties' high-handed approach fails to address demands of Madhesi people.

Yadav declared that protests in Madhes will continue unless the government implements the past agreements reached with Madhesi leaders.

"But unfortunately, the government does not seem serious to address our demands," he added.

He maintained that blockade along Nepal-India borders, highway obstructions and other kinds of protests in Terai region will continue unless the government implements the 8-point and 22-point agreements reached with Madhesi leaders in the past.

"There is no need for a dialogue with us lately as the past agreements were reached with us through dialogues. So, if the government really wants to resolve the ongoing crisis, I urge it to implement the past agreements," said he, "Otherwise, we will continue with our protests even during the festival."

He said that leaders of major political parties are trying to undermine Madhesi people's demands by claiming that the Madhes movement was India-sponsored.

"We denounce major leaders for trying to weaken Madhesi people's demands and divert public attention by saying India is behind the protests. It will only help deteriorate Nepal's relation with neighboring countries," said he.

Yadav said that the government should immediately resolve its internal issues if it really wants to maintain its good relation with neighboring countries and pursue its national interest.

He said that the blockade along Nepal-India border is a disobedience movement and will continue even during the festival if the government continues to bypass Madhesi demands.
