Aimed at helping children continue their education despite the demise of their parents, the SMC Federation and the Punya Foundation distributed them with bags, copies, pens/pencils, and shoes along with some cash meant for examination fees amidst functions held at various places in the three districts last week.At a ceremony organized at Shree Tamang Kharka Higher Secondary School in Gumdi VDC, Dhading, 27 such children received stationeries, school uniforms and cash. Similarly, 22 orphans at Shree Aananda Higher Secondary School in Jalbire, Sindhupalchowk and eight orphans at Dhulikhel, Kavre were provided with scholarships, said Mohan Niroula, scholarship program coordinator of the Federation.
Speaking at one of the functions, SMC Federation's Central Chairman Krishna Thapa said, "We don't want this campaign to end here. So, together with the Punya Foundation, we have made a 10-year plan to continue providing special scholarships to orphans studying up to secondary level."
