Nepali documentary screened in Netherlands

KATHMANDU, Sept. 26: A Nepali documentary named 'Sacrifices of the Serpents' has been screened in South Asian Studies Center of Leiden University of the Netherlands on Thursday.

The documentary that depicts the cultural and social aspects of Indaryani Jatra was made by Dr Dirk Nijland based on a two-year-long research of Leiden University's Professor Dr Bal Gopal Shrestha and Bert Van Den Hoek.


During the program, a large number of Dutch nationals and Center's Chair Professor Dr Peter Bisschop and others were present, according to a press note issued from the Embassy of Nepal, Belgium.

On the occasion, Nepal's Ambassador to Belgium Rammani Pokharel said that Nepal's new constitution promulgated last week has encouraged all Nepalis to unite for nation building process with new zeal and wished for further supports and goodwill from the international community.

He also urged the Dutch to visit Nepal as the aura of Nepal's major tourism destinations is still spellbinding despite the deadly earthquake of April 25. RSS
