800 plus goats and buffaloes sacrificed in two Temples at Baitadi on Maha Astami

BAITADI, Oct 10: Over 800 goats and buffaloes were sacrificed in Ningalashaini Bhagawati Temple at Dehimandau and Melauli Bhagawati Temple at Melauli in Baitadi district on the occasion of Maha-Astami, the eight day of the 10-day long Bada Dashain festival.

BAITADI, Oct 10: Over 800 goats and buffaloes were sacrificed in Ningalashaini Bhagawati Temple at Dehimandau and Melauli Bhagawati Temple at Melauli in Baitadi district on the occasion of Maha-Astami, the eight day of the 10-day long Bada Dashain festival.

Religious rituals are performed at the Dashain Ghars and armouries and worships are offered to goddess Durga Bhawani at various shrines by offering sacrifices of different animals on this day. 



The two temples in the district saw sacrifice of some 382 buffaloes and 432 uncastrated male goats, according to the District Police Office, Baitadi. 



Worshippers believe that scarifies of different animals, including goats, ducks, and sheep among others, appeases goddess Durga Bhawani and her nine manifestations known as Navadurga. 



The sacrifice of animals will follow in two other Durga temples-Udayadev Temple at Patan and Dilashaini Temple at Talladehi in the district today too for today is being observed as Mahanawami festival, the ninth day of the Bada Dashain, said a local Lokesh Saud. 

Offering of animals is made in various other shrines of goddess in the Far-West region on this occasion. RSS
