74 dengue cases reported in Palpa

PALPA, July 21: The District Health Office in Papla confirmed that in the district, 74 people have been infected with dengue fever this year. Among them, 42 are from the district and the remaining 32 have come from other nearby districts for treatment. 

Dr Rajendra Kumar Giri, chief of the Health Office in Palpa, has informed the media that dengue cases have been observed in people of other districts who come for treatment at the United Mission Hospital, Lumbini Medical College and other hospitals in the district. 

According to the information officer of the Health Office in Palpa, Tikaram Adhikari, among those affected, many are from Tansen Municipality and relatively few people from the rural municipalities in the district.

The Health Office has issued a directive to all local units in the district through the Health Section to organize a ‘Search and Destroy’ campaign to raise awareness. Dengue fever is caused by the Aedes mosquito and spreads through its larvae commonly found in stagnant water.
