73 percentage participation in Baglung by-election

BAGLUNG, April 11: The Baglung by-election witnessed 73 percentage of voters participation on Saturday, a preliminary report by the Election Commission (EC) stated.

This is three percentage low to the earlier voters participations. The second Constituent Assembly election in Baglung witnessed 76 percentage of voters participation, District Election Officer Tolraj Upadhyay said.

"We have been informed that 38,000 voters of 52,200 participated in the by-election today," Upadhyay said.The vote count will begin from Sunday morning which will be completed within four hours, the EC officer added. However, the vote count might begin from Saturday evening if the political parties reach to a consensus, he further said.

11 candidates—nine from various political parties and two independent—are contending for Baglung-1 constituency.

The by-election was conducted following the death of Hari Bahadur Khadka who represented Nepali Congress in the CA from Baglung-1.
